Question:

Some1 Stole my Credit Card 2 make a purchase online?

I bought 2 pairs of shoes from a famous shoe store company. The transaction went perfectly fine. A couple days later I get an email confirmation (from the same company), stated I purchased another pair of shoes.

Basically, someone stole or hacked into my online account (or something) and used my credit card information to make a purchase. I called the company and they canceled the purchase.

My question is, Is there anything else I need to do?? Such as notify someone that my account info was stolen?? I actually have the person's address (the purchase was made across the U.S., I live in California).

Thanks

  1. As suggested cancel the card immediately. You should also put the account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. It has to be renewed every 90 days to keep the alert active. Better to be safe than sorry later.

  2. call your credit card company IMMEDIATLY!!!!!! CANCEL THE CARD.

TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED THEY WILL EITHER PUT A BLOCK ON YOUR CARD OR CANCEL IT.

I had that happen once and they stopped the card and the user could not use it.

Mine was 900$ though. It took a month and a statement later to realize soemone did this. Mine was stolen from my purse. And it happened while at work.

Also give the person's address to the company that way they can go after them to press charges.

  3. Call the credit card company that you used to purchase the items and notify them that your credit card information has been compromised. They'll send you a new card with a new card number most likely. And when you're telling them that, tell them you know the address the fraudulent purchase was going to. Their fraud department will look into it, and press charges if necessary.

  4. You can notify all the credit reporting agencies at annualcreditreport.com that you had a credit card stolen and they can put a flag on your CBI stating that you have been a victim of fraud.  If anyone tries to pull your credit, they will be told to investigate further.  This should stop anymore unwanted transactions.

    Good Luck.
