  1. I would highly recommend hiring an immigration attorney from the US and he/she will take care of the paper work. The US citizen can bring the Canadian one on a K-1 visa[fiancee visa] and then get married here within 90 days or so if I remember correctly. Then they have to establish their marriage to prove that they didn't just get married for paper work wise.

    Best wishes from me!

  2. The US citizen should apply for a fiancee visa for the Canadian.

The American should file I-129F, I-864 and G-325A with the USCIS.  The cost to file will be $355.  You can find these forms here...

The Canadian will get a package of forms and information from the US embassy in Ottawa or the US consulate closest to her home.  She'll take care of the paperwork and get a physical exam.  After an interview she'll get her fiancee visa.

Once she's got the fiancee visa she's got 6 months to move to the USA.  Once in the USA she's got 90 days to marry you.

Once married she must file I-485, I-131 and I-765.  The cost to file will be $1,010.

She'll get her work permit in about 90 days.

She'll have her interview in about 6 months.

She'll get her green card in about a year.

You do not need an attorney.  This is "do it yourself" simple.
