My daughter is 13 years old and is 4'9''weighs about 90 lbs. She is very flexible and can hit all of the positions (scorpion, scale, overstretch, heel stretch, lib, arabesque). Do you think once she gets in high school/college she will be able to fly? This is one of her passions! Thank you so much! And if any of you want to include stretches or exercises that will help with flying that would be great! Thanks!

  1. Most likely. Just make sure she still pratices everyday. I can't say if she would make cheer in high school because I don't know how she is at everything else. And in college it is much harder. And I think all girls on a college team have to be flyers. I think. But I think she will make high school. Tell her Good Luck

  2. I would say definitely! The number one thing cheer teams look for in a flyer is flexibility. Even if your daughter grows taller or weighs more, i think she has a very big chance of being a flyer. Flying is more about technique than size. Just make sure she knows how to stay tight and lock her knees, since they are key to flying. As long as she can continue to hit those positions, she will most likely, if not definitely become a flyer.

specific stretches would be too hard to explain, but basically tell her to stretch out her back (this will improve her scale & scorpion) and work on her splits (this will improve her heel stretch).
