  1. Charter Schools are technically public schools.  They are run privately, but funded publicly and must adhere to public school requirements, however, they don't have a the bureaucracy and can spend that money more wisely than traditional public schools do.

    Many charter schools allow kids to specialize their education in different areas.  For instance, in my area, there is a preforming arts charter school, a technology charter school, an Ag charter and several home school charters.


  2. Charter schools = specialty schools in one or two subjects (usually fine/performing art or vocational-technical), and excellence is typical.

    Public school = catch-all, state-mandated educational facilities in which excellence is tolerated and a Dilbert mentality ("only be as good as you have to be") is often the rule.

  3. charter school your family needs to have a certain amount of income to get accepted into while for public is free.

  4. charter is private schools and public is free
