OK so I started my period for the very first time and it lasted for 7 days..

I'm 12 and my birthday is in like 13 days.

Would it be bad if I started using tampons already?

I really want to because I heard they're easy and

stuff, but I want to know if it's bad.

Also I stopped my period for a day and the next day

at like 3:00pm or 4:00pm it started again?

What was that all about?!?!

  1. Stopping your period for a day and then it resuming is pretty common. That happens to me often and I have been having periods for 13 years.

  2. There's no minimum age recommendation for tampons.  If you feel ready, then they shouldn't be a problem.  Before you try them, though, read the information that comes in the box.  Understand exactly how to insert them, so you don't hurt yourself.  Also, make sure you understand the risks of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) and know how to prevent it.  If you have any questions, talk to your doctor or your school nurse.  TSS is extremely rare, but it can be life-threatening.  Understanding how tampons work and why it's necessary to use the right strenght and to change them frequently will help to prevent the condition.

Having irregularities is very normal for a young woman, particularly when you first start your period.  Your body is changing; it needs time to adjust.  Besides, some women always have irregular cycles; it depends upon the women.
