  2. Just keep nursing... your b***s will respond.

  3. You just need to keep stimulating your b*****s, just keep pumping. I know it's annoying but it will trigger  the receptors telling your body that you need more milk for your baby.

  4. Your breastfeeding problem is that what you're doing is not breastfeeding.

Why are you messing with a pump? Nurse your baby directly. If you need help to do this, try La Leche League, who will help in-person, for free: http://llli.org/

  5. Please don't use the pump anymore and please don't feed your baby formula.  The only way to make more milk is by having your baby nurse on you.  Even if your your baby is latched on correctly, your nipples still get sore, I'm sorry!!! I know it hurts.  But stick to it your nipples will toughen up, I promise.  If you ever have more kids, it probably won't be an issue any more.  When your baby sucks on you, his or her saliva stimulates a hormone on your b*****s that helps you produce milk. That is why actually having the baby on you works so much better then pumping.  Formula fills your baby faster and keeps them satisfied longer (not really, but it seems that way) b/c it takes longer for them to digest all those harsh cow or soy proteins.  Your milk is so easy for them to digest that they need to nurse more then if they were on formula, but thats a good thing.  I promise you, no matter wht people are probably telling you, you will not starve your baby. DON'T GIVE FORMULA if you want to continue successfully breastfeeding.  Your milk supply will catch up to your babies needs in a matter of 8-12 hours.  You need to get plenty of rest, eat really well, and drink lots and lots of water.  All three of these things are so important to making milk. Oh and go take a long hot shower. If your b***s start leaking milk while your in there, hold your palms over your nipples and firmly but gently apply pressure, then go and nurse.   And when ever you can nurse that baby!!!  Your milk supply will be full again.  just listen to your baby and your body.  Trust your motherly instincts.  And call the la Leche League for phone support if you are stressing out.  I did with my first child (I have 3) and they really helped me.  I nursed my kids for 7 months, before I started solids, and there were days it seemed like I was so dry, but I know I wasn't, my body was just catching up to my babies needs, and the only way it could do that and know to do that, was by my baby sucking on me. That is what told my body to make milk. Hang in there!!! The nursing community is proud of you for nursing and you should be too.  Its one of the best gifts you can give your baby and one of the most selfless things you can do.  You go Girl!!!!

  6. The only way to let your body know to make more milk is to let your baby nurse more.  I agree to get rid of the pump for awhile, and just focus on you and your baby learning to breastfeed.  It's not always easy - after 3 days I had bloody cracked nipples that felt like they were on fire every time I nursed - I had several lactation consultants all saying my baby was latched on great and that I must just be sensitive.  I really understood then why people give up on breastfeeding.  We fortunately got through it and while it still doesn't tickle after 6 weeks, it certainly isn't as bad as it was in the beginning.

Sometimes, if it's really important to you, you just have to be stubborn and get through it.  Just know that your body will do what it's supposed to and you can tell by the number of wet/poopy diapers your baby has per day.  If you have been feeding formula for even a day, your baby's tummy will be stretched out bigger than it should be and (s)he will need some time to get used to the smaller volume of breast milk again - they don't need as much because breast milk has more calories in it than formula so they get more in less volume.

Just trust your body - it knows what it's doing.

  7. Your milk did not go away in one day.  I promise.  Latch baby on to your breast and let him eat.  Ditch the pump, the bottles, the formula.
