Question:

Somehow, I was withdrawn from K12 Virtual Academy?

I was accepted into CAVA (California Virtual Academy) last month. And then I was just checking my shipment process when I found out that my Enrollment Process was "withdrawn". I don't remember withdrawing or somebody contact me that I was "withdrawn" since it happened two days ago. (I just figured it out this morning) I contacted the administrative number and they said that there wasn't a reason for my withdrawal and that I would be contacted by my counselor and she'll tell me what happened. Has this happened to anyone before? Is this a mistake or did I do something wrong? This is really getting to me because my local high school here just started two weeks ago. And I really don't want to go back and there isn't any other program like K12. Thanks for helping.

  1. Check out pacificview.org. They have an online school for high school. It also depends on what county you live in.

Too bad about the other school. That doesn't sound right. Hopefully you will get it resolved.

    Good luck!

  2. We had a slightly different, but still annoying, problem with CAVA about three years ago.  It took them three months to assign a teacher and deliver our materials.  When our materials did arrive, a number of items were missing, and we received a number of items for the wrong grade levels.

CAVA has a habit of over-enrolling; they take new students without making sure they have enough teachers to handle the load.  The problem for students such as you is since CAVA "unenrolled" you, the state considers you truant.

I would strongly suggest you check out your other options here: http://www.homefires.com/ca_style.asp#wa...

You will note that you can file a PSA (Private School Affidavit) in October, which will free you from having to answer to any school system.  You will then be able to devise your own curriculum, which you can do at little or no cost.  Get a copy of this book: http://lowryhousepublishers.com/TeenageL... which may be available at your public library.  If not, buy it from amazon.  You will be so reassured to find out that you DON'T have to follow a standard school curriculum in order to receive an excellent education.

    All the best.
