So i'm a pretty ok tennis player and i play #6 on my varsity high school team. I'm a lefty but my backhand has surprisingly always been a lot more consistent and stronger than my forehand. so when i went to play the match i found that i could not hit my backhand at ALL. that has never happened to me before, i don't think i've ever had an off day quite like that. any suggestions?

and also i have to play a challenge match for my spot on the team on saturday!

  1. Well let me tell you something, you're #6 on your team so don't expect your backhand to be consistent 100% of the time. I'm not trying to be mean, but just go out on your own time and hit with a partner or a ball machine, and be confident, and don't let one terrible day throw you off cause it will happen.

  2. Hey! Don't freak out at all! Every good tennis player has an off day once in a while. You're ranked so high for a REASON aren't you? Maybe you're just nervous. You can't forget how to play your backhand can you?

My advice: Go practise a little before your challenge match! Avoid getting tense. Stop worrying! You'll do great! Have faith and pratise your moves. GOOD LUCK! And please tell us how your match goes!

  3. slow it down, go back to the basics and find out what you're doing wrong.

  4. Maybe you need to get off the computer and "practice" both your backhand and forehand shots religiously before Saturday.

  5. dont worry! Happens! You wasn't motivated or/and lack of confidence.

That's why we love tennis, just go back to the court, get yourself together, and start hitting back gradually, until you reach back your best performance. Go back to the basics! Keep your eye on the ball, and follow through!

    Good luck!

  6. I am also better at my backhand, i think it is because i have a two-handed backhand. Anyway, I usually will go to my local tennis courts where they have a ball machine and use the ball machine to hit repetitive forehands at various spins, speeds, and heights until i get the motion back and am consistent enough with it. As for Saturday, you might want to play with a friend on the team to get some real game play practice.

  7. Practice and maybe your having a bad day. Is something on your mind that can cause you a problem??? Were you playing against someone new, maybe they are just better at the game?
