Okay this has been going on for about 2 weeks. After the chino hills earthquake. 3 times. They took our camcorder, our external hard drive, and this time they were caught trying to break into our bedroom. We live in a cul de sac, and we have friendly neighbors. This time the burglar came from the surrounding houses!! I'm thinkin, handguns, security systems, etc. But we can't afford it. WE have a chihuahua, but he doesn't bark at all. WE're leaving the house for a trip next week, what do we do.

  4. Call your local police dept and request they check on your house more often while you are away. Also let your neighbors know you will be gone and if they see anyone around the house...call the police.

Do you have any friends that can house sit for you? That usually helps a lot

  5. Do you know anyone that could house sit?

  6. When I lived in Norfolk Virginia, I got in the habit of always locking the doors and windows, and while home and awake keep a light on (If you're watching a  movie keep the bedroom light on).  I keep a combat loaded 9mm in the night stand, even though now in a small Kansas town, it's not in any way needed.  Keep your doors locked (dead bolted) and don't leave blinds open.  if people can't see, or break in, they're less likely to do so.  If you're home and worried about safety, just have some way to protect yourself that makes you feel safe.  If you do invest in a fire arm, spend enough on ammo that you can actually use it, and for home defense get home  you have to use them, they'll be more effective, and if you miss, cause less property damage.
