  1. i wouldnt take a child to a place like tthat unless they truly no what going on. But if they no the difference between life and death then i would the age i think is ok to take a child is about 9 or so

  2. I agree with cafeconle. Also sometimes, children need closure, so it may not be a bad thing to see the body for a few minutes and maybe even kiss their Grandparent goodbye.

  3. it depends on how the body looks, and how you explain it to the child

  4. i saw my dead great grandmother when i was like 8 or 10.. it was kinda scary, but i didn't know her very well so it wasn't like traumatizing.. i think anything under that age of 10 doesn't really know what's going on anyway.

  5. I guess it really depends on the child.  Some children may not feel comfortable with death (not like anyone really is) just yet, or they may not understand it is that's going on.  Then some children might know what's going on and can better cope.  I can remember there being a lot of funerals when I was a kid and I never went (by choice), the only funeral I ever attended were my grandparents and that was for closure.  Still till this day I don't go to funerals, and I've had a lot of friends and family pass away. I pay my respects in other ways. It's all in how the person copes. I would leave it up to the child to decide whether they wanted to attend or not.

  6. I think its up to the parents to decide whether their children are going to be 'damaged' by seeing a dead body. After all, they know their children better then anyone on here.

  7. I'm a funeral director so my children have always been around dead people. It doesnt bother them or me. It depends on your family and teh way you are raised. Some peopel are freaked out by bodies and I understand. A child 2 or under probably won't even remember. A high strung child between 2-5 might have problems. 5 years+ I believe it helps the kids to say goodbye. Just hope this helps please let me knwo if you need more info.
