Someone edit this poem and give me opinions?

Question

This was a poem for school about the story "Go Ask Alice". Please tell me what you think...

Why did she do it?

It's hard to see

Someone fall into a pit

No different than you or me

Why did she do it?

Arrogant pride

Rebellious anger growing inside

Why did she do it?

Pure desperation

Living life in lone isolation

Why did she do it?

Her life all ahead

Secretly living seeing it all with dread

So why do they do it?

When their journey's have yet begun

Drugs kill them off one by one

I am unfamiliar with the story 'Go Ask Alice' but I do like your poem. I think the repetition is very effective in setting the tone of the poem. Your use of rhyme is very good although the rhythm is a little uncertain: you can hear the rhythm in places (e.g. the second stanza) but you have not maintained it throughout the poem. All in all, in my opinion, this is very good. If I were you I'd go over it a few times, and just fine comb it to ensure it's how you want it to be.

why she threw herself into the pit,

we thought she like you and me.

Why did she do it, was it through

arrogant pride or a rebellious anger

that began festering inside.

Why did she do it, perhaps out of

pure desperation while living her

life in secluded isolation.

Why did she do it when she had

her whole life ahead, perhaps we

will never know it was a life of dread.

So why do they do it when life's

journey has just begun. They know

that drugs will kill them one by one.
