Someone gave an old computer, it's a windows 98. There was no manual & the person doesn't want to help me.How

do I find out if I have a dvd & cd player ? Please give answer in step by step cause I don't know much about computers.Also what is a cd-rom?

Look at the tower. Push the power button and let the computer start up and wait until you get the screen (desktop) with all the icons on it. Look at the tower again, you should see a horizontal plate with a button just below it, push the button and see if the tray opens. It should say CD-ROM or DVD right on the plate. If it doesnt, put your mouse on the My Computer icon and double-click, it will open a new screen which will show your hard drive and any other drives in your computer, if you need more help let me know.

Cd-rom is the drive you put round disk in to play song, games.

On the drive itself it would usually indicates is cdrom or dvd-rom.You can confirm easily by

Click start->control panel->system->hardware tab->device manager->DVD/CDrom drive
