  1. the hospital did that to my sister too, when a baby drinks out of a bottle there isn't much work involved so when you put them on the breast it can become a little frusterating for them bc they have to really suck. I had to give my baby formula for a night & when i put him back on the breast he was a very lazy eater. I just kept at it & eventually he got it. Don't give up bc he will eat & make sure you drink plenty of juice & water so your milk will produce better, the more full your breast are the easier after it starts dropping it will pour out. Once i realized that my baby was a lazy eater I wouldn't give him bottles anymore. It took longer to feed him & tended to get mad but he still ate good. have patience & you could call the la leche or go online. they'll have someone call you back & can probably give you some good tips. I don't know the exact website but just type la leche in & find their number. good luck & don't give up bc he'll catch on eventually. Make sure that when your feeding him that he is fully awake, if you have to undress him to breast feed & change his diaper wake him up all the way or he'll just graze & go back to sleep

  2. i had the opposite problem i couldnt get my baby to take the bottle as i didnt have enough milk but if you have your milk supply express it into a bottle and feed him that way and then you also know how much he has drunk etc may make it easier in future but if you really want to breast feed keep trying but not when your frustrated as this can upset him take your time and you will get there also speak with a breast feeding nurse as they also know alot of tips to help you get him on good luck

  3. it doesn't hurt for the baby to keep on trying to latch on your nipples. if that dont work, the just pump away and he can drink out a bottle

  4. dont blame the hospital, you just have to keep trying to breastfeed.  a few days on the bottles isnt going to end breastfeeding forever, you just have to stick with it. You have to start with BF and gradually grow your milk supply. you should be getting your milk supply in right now.

dont give it just keep at it.

  5. If you are worried about the expense of formula get in conact with your local WIC office. Women, Infant and Children(WIC) was designed to help support lower income mothers. They provide eligable women and families with checks for free formula.

WIC also has trained lactation nurses on hand. WIC supports breastfeeding! They will evaluate the problem and help rectify it. If economically elegiable WIC will provide checks for free milk, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, tuna, carrots and beans to breastfeeding moms.

Tommorow give them a call, tell them the emergency of it and they may be able to schedule you that day.
