Someone hacked my password on gmail. I changed the password so that I could get back in. I have the ip address of the person who changed my password. What can I do? How do I find out who this person is and stuff? Can i get this guy in trouble?

  1. Report him to the Gmail admins. If you look on the Gmail site I'm sure there's a email address there for customer support. Tell them what happened and tell them that you think you have there IP address. Don't try and go all vigilante super hacker guy on them because it's you that will end up in prison :)

  2. go in and change your gmail password.

    change the alternative email address

How did you get the ip address of that person?  Gmail would have it, but how did you get it?

you could report it to abuse@gmail.com along with dates and times, including the last time you accessed it.  They can go from there.

  3. report the IP, stealing email accounts is a serious offense and anyone who does this can face a prison sentence
