Question:

Someone has phoned us and not hung up the phone and now we cannot use our phone until they hang up.?

Does anyone know how we can fix this. I am heavily pregnant and need access to my landline incase I go into labour. We also can't find who has phoned until they hang up so I can dial 1471. Please please help

  1. Use a mobile to ring your operator and they might be able to disconnect the call. One thing that you an smile to yourself about though is that their bill is going to be huge!!


  2. this is probably fixed by now, but maybe unplugging your phone from the wall  and plugging it back in might work.

  3. Try press the "Recall" or "R" button (not redial) and hang up the phone.

    The phone will start to ring again - if you don't answer it, it should stop ringing within a minute, at which point you should have a clear line again.

    This has worked for me on a BT line. Cable may be different!

  4. If you dont have a mobile try getting in touch with bt online

  5. You need to make a loud high pitched noise like a whistle down the phone and hope that they hear it and pick up their phone. you may have to do this do this for a while. If you call the operator on another phone they may be able to help in some way, maybe tell you the number of the caller, they also can send a high pitched noise down the line
