Someone in my household buys deli meat in prepacked containes and then stores it in the freezer for 10 months?

And then puts it in the meat drawer as if it were safe to eat after 10 months the expiration date says October of 07 and Now here it is August of 08. Also allows meat to spoil and doesnt' throw it out and acts like its good to eat or thinks Im going to eat after its been sitting in the freezer for almost a year.

actually deli meats can be frozen, a lot of them say use or freeze by this date....not that i do it....so if someone bought deli meat, froze it right away and pulled it out even a year later,  the texture and quality may change, but it would be completely safe....oh, and you can't open it before you freeze it.

the worst that could happen to the deli meats is that it may be a little watery from the ice crystals.  We as a people have become waaay to worried about what we eat.  I bet you will never find someone who croaked from eating frozen bologna.  Sitting in the freezer for a year will NOT spoil the meat.  If it isn't wrapped tightly enough, it may become freezer burnt, but not spoiled.  If that someone in your household is doing all these bad things, complain to them.

ummm...it's perfectly safe.  the point of freezing stuff is so that it's still good when you need it after the expiration date.  the expiration date is if it was in the fridge.  since it's been in the freezer, the quality and freshness has been completely preserved.  it IS safe to eat, and you've probably been eating thawed out meat for years and never knew it!  relax and have a sandwich!

Yes, it sounds like someone does. However, if you buy it and freeze it, then it will be good beyond the expiry date, that's why people freeze things.
