Someone is claiming that they have hired a private investigator to find info on me?

is there anything I can do within my rights to stop it? I don't even know who the private investigator is?!?

I am being falsely accused of an internet crime (harassment) and I want to know my rights.

In the US - So long as the investigator obtains information in legal ways, there isn't anything you can do about it.

Investigating you is not harassment.

contact a lawyer and get a private investigator out on this person accusing you.  contact your local law enforcement agency and talk to them about a restraining order.  If you are truly being falsely accused than what this person is doing is harrassment and borderline stalking.  What internet crime are you being accused of anyway and why do they think you did it?
