Someone is poisoning pigeons in my community in CA. It's very sad and upsetting. Is this legal? ?

If it is not legal, what I can do to stop it? I have called the police department and they refer me to animal control. I leave messages with animal control and never hear back from them. What else can I do?

there are many pesticide products registered for killing(poisoning) pigeons,it is legal.Some jurisdictions you may need a permit others you do not.Contact your local EPA(environmental protection agency) office to get the specifics for your state.You can always go the media route expose it through TV or newspaper you may get results that way.

Yes it's very upsetting to see birds being poisoned. The poison not only affects pigeons, it affects other birds too. Poisoning is a slow and terrible way to die and people always play god thinking they have the right to decide which lives and which dies.

I would think it is legal because it is done so to control the population. However, i dont think it's a humane way to deal with the problem. I think you really need to press animal control to get them to get back to you.

Another thing is, if you do see this poison lying around, just collect it and throw it away.

Best things you can do is set up a your own security cameras around and area you think the person will strike.

Then turn that into the cops.

Yes, it's a form of animal cruelty which is always illegal. Keep putting pressure on Animal Control (mention PETA tehy'll call you back in 5 minutes!) or try the ASPCA.

Maybe try and find out what is happening. I'm not exactly sure if it's legal or not since I don't live in CA, but it's not right. It shouldn't be legal but I can't be exactly sure. You should just try and find out exactly what's happening.

It  is legal to kill pigeons in CA only during season..when they are not breeding or nesting. Fish and Game covers that, as the murderer is required to have a permit. They are allowed to set traps and check daily..and several other methods of humane removal

NO gunshots or poisoning allowed near cities.

  i dont stay in CA but i know this much that it must not be legal

try to collect evidence collect people near by u and inform them abt this, might be some may be able to help u.

   call the animal control deparment once again

its really nice to see people taking so much care for animals

im pretty sure its illigal b/c the birds are not his own, so ya, but maybe you and a few of your friends could go find the person and confront him and tell him what he is doing is bad, that way it will be as scary to have to do it ur self!!  But just keep calling animal control until they call u back.

well if you dont know whos doing it you really cant do anything... its only a pigeon (also known as the flying rat)....
