Question:

Someone is using my phone number the same time I am?

My phone was stolen last year and I reported it lost, they sent me a new phone with the same phone number. Before I reported it lost, some woman had been using my phone.

Now, recently, my minutes have sky rocketed and I barely use my phone. My friends say that sometimes they'll call my phone and some woman picks up.

Is it possible that this woman who stole my phone is able to still use it under my phone number?

What should I do? I called Sprint and they said they're not sure how to fix this problem.

  1. The only possible cause of this, would be if the SIM chip on the old phone, is still active.  Otherwise she wouldn't have any access to your service.

I don't know how this would occur, since most cell companies have a set up that requires deactivation of the old SIM before the new one can be activated on the phone number.

  2. Well. anything is possible in the technology world as there can be error.s I would be persistant in getting answers. If you not that your bill is reflecting phone calls you did not make. and people are calling the correct phone number. Then your wireless provider needs to assist you somehow. Maybe by changing your phone number?

  3. Unfortantely, it is entirely possible to cloan your cell phone (especially if it is a GMS carrier, with a sim card). Professionals can copy your cell phone hardware and use it to make phone calls and you pay for it.

Since you said you are with Sprint then I would recommend you change your phone #. It would be easier than trying to file a police report, wait a month for the bearcracy for Sprint to track the signal (that is if you stopped using your cell phone as well).

I hope I am dead wrong about this but it sounds that way.

  4. Call sprint back and get a new number. then call your contacts and give them the new number.
