I had my period and finished monday just gone, now all of a sudden I am bleeding again. I am on the pill (yasmin) and have been on it for 2 years and this has never happened to me before. Could it be withdrawal bleeding, I am really worried, has anyone had this happen to them on this pill, and should I be concerned. As I said I have just finished my period and now 4 days later I am bleeding again. I am not on the white tablets but on the first row again. I read the little symptoms list, and this should only happen if I have just started on it on the pill and as I said I have been on it for two years with no problems. I am unable to go to the Dr at present as I am at work...Anyone that can help me would be great. I am really concerned. Only mature answers please.

  1. Don't panic, it's fairly normal. There are a dozen reasons this could be happening, but you're very unlikely to be pregnant as long as you've been taking your pill correctly. After being on the same pill for a long time, some women can sometimes just develop side effects that SHOULD have occurred in the first three months. I was on the same pill for 5 years and then developed weird side effects - switching pills took care of it.  It might be nothing, it might go away next month and you'll be back to normal.  If it keeps up for 3 months though, get your doctor to switch your pill brands.  My doc told me that if you're experiencing heavy or persistent breakthrough bleeding you can take an extra pill for a couple days (take two pills at the same time for 2 or 3 days) as long as you've been taking the pill correctly up till now and that will stop the bleeding.  Make sure you take the extra pills from a spare pack though. Good luck!
