My car was making loud ticking sound from engine and whilst travelling it completely stopped on me - took it to a garage and he said you need a new engine which he has put in which cost me just under £3000.He also advised as stated on the contract that after 500 miles you need to return it for an oil change for the warranty...Is this true. Also the car after 11 months is making the same ticking sound. Please advise what the problem might be, and also is this true about the warranty.

  1. It sounds like you need to NEW timing belt! I don't think it's the engine.

  2. Wrong cat.

  3. You have been well ripped off here, the noise you are hearing is simply caused by a lack of basic car maintenance which should be carried out on a weekly basis this includes tyre pressures, water levels in the radiator and windscreen wash, oil levels (check using dipstick in engine)

The most urgent action you should take right now is to check your oil level because no oil will without doubt kill your engine,I can not believe after 11 months you have not carried out these basic checks.

The idiot at the garage where you had the repairs done knew you would be back and would be rubbing his hands knowing he was getting another Three Grand out of you and as you are not under any legal agreement to take the car to him I would go somewhere else.

Your car will NOT be covered by any warranty if the damage is caused by you not carrying out minimum and routine checks.

You need to speak with a friend or relative who knows about what checks to do on your car, otherwise you are going to have this trouble for ever.

Please do not go back to the same conman you used before.

  4. It sounds like you have been totally shafted!!

What exactly was wrong with your car to warrant a new engine. Was it an engine re-build?

Where is the ticking coming from?

You could have got a new car for 3K.

If you took it to a garage (presuming your car is passed the manufacturers warranty) then he is taking cr*p!

You dont go into a warranty with a garage.

It would be advisable to change the oil, you can do this yourself.

Check your oil level because you could just have tappits.

Did you sign anything with the garage? If you did and its under their warranty - you have no obligation to go back.

  5. Yes, he can make the warranty conditional, if you agreed to it (as you did).

  6. You are suppose to take the car back so that they can change oil, its cause of a new or reconditioned engine inside.

  7. Sounds more like a timing belt, not an engine problem.

  8. You do need help, no car sense at all you poor bugger.

Yes the ticking is normally bad and left unchecked will lead to a dead motor.

Yes if you got a new motor it needs to go back and have an early oil change. This is because a new engine wears metal parts and the metal ends up in the oil (filter).

If you got a new motor and agreed to some terms and conditions then you really should have followed the rules, why? because ur going to be up for another 3000.

The problem... who knows, could be a lifter a big end bearing or similar, cant really tell without looking at it.

    Good luck

  9. A ticking sound is often a sign that your car is going to overheat.  Check the water in the radiator and the reservoir.  If they are empty, fill it up and the noise will go away temporarily.  Have it checked out.

  10. TIMING BELT BROKE

NEW ONE SHOULDNT SUE THE FOOKER
