I left work today and i had a note on my window that was from i guess the owner of the car that i parked behind. It said that i had left a dent in her car from parking to close. She said that she wants me to call her to make arrangements. Should i do anything? I took pictures that show i was completely in my parking spot, and how big of a dent could i have put in her car from parking, i mean you dont roll forward fast when you're parking, or atleast i dont. It just seems fishy to me. Anything?

Sounds like a scam.  Call your local police to see if there's some scam like this going around.

    good Luck...

  2. It is possible she backed into you when she parked.  You didn't hit her when you parked or you would have noticed because you would have felt the bump.

Never say this sort of thing:  "and how big of a dent could i have put in her car from parking, i mean you dont roll forward fast when you're parking" doesn't sound like you didn't hit her.  It sounds like you bumped her and knew it and are trying to get out of paying her.  If you didn't hit her, you have to say it that way and mean it.  You can be sure you would have felt it if  you hit her car hard enough to put a dent in it.  So say, I parked well inside my space and I didn't hit anyone when I parked.  She is mistaken to think her car got dented after she parked there.

Since you have pictures of where you parked (and hope they believe you took them as it was and you did not reposition it), you should check with the police.  Then, call your insurance agent.  This is what an agent does.  Help you out in this sort of situation.  Above all, don't contact her until you have done these things.

Since she left the note, she probably has your license plate number and will recognize your car the next time she sees it, so do these things quickly before things get out of hand.

  3. DO NOT CONTACT THE PERSON.  contact your insurance company and let them handle it.  i had someone call their insurance company and report to them i hit their car and left the scene.  i was at work at the time, so it would have been impossible.  they must have gotten my plate # at some point somewhere because they knew it.  once their company called mine, mine called me to verify.  i told them it was impossible and that i had witnesses to verify i and my auto were at work at the time they claimed i hit them.  once my company called their company and let them know "my side" and they would be denying the claim and sending an adjuster out to take pics of my car with no damage, they could not even get their insured to call them back on it.  he had picked my car randomly and did not realize i was not an idiot or that i was an insurance agent.  let your company handle this.  they will investigate and if you did not do it, they will deny the persons claim.

  4. Only you would know if you bumped her car.  Did you ?  If so, fess up.  If you did not, tell her you did not.
