  1. Man i have been 5.7 since i was 14 i don't think it has anything to do with lifting weights.I started lifting weights at 17 years old,i am 19 now.I don't think i am gonna grow anymore. If it were weights i should have grown that 3 years from 14-17.So it is not true.

Well when i was 14 i got hit by a big truck rugby player which was 300lbs and i was 110lbs may be thats the reason.

  2. dude my brother is like 5'11 and is big like a NFL player,

hees 20 and still growing maybe till late 30s then joints start to have probelms

dude dont do heavy weight do what u can handle for 6 reps and thats it have good form eat veggies ,meats and drink milk

im 14 and im like 5'5 i grew since 13 a good 3 1/2 inches you will still keep growing man have no worreys dont listen to those wussys who say

"ooo it stunts your growth" that means there small and soft dude

keep lefting man just dont over do it and take rest and stretch every muscle group  so muscle wont be small they can be loose and stretched

  3. Lifting does not stunt your growth.  That however is not the problem.  You need to start listening to people who know what they are talking about.

The problem with serious lifting is that your bones and joints are not yet hardened up and this won't happen until you finish growing.  Lifting puts a lot of stress on the joints and very simply you can damage them.

How do I know?  Because at 18 I got a knee injury that I've had to live with for nearly 30 years. I know that 18 seems a long way off, but it'll come round faster than you think.  If you damage a joint now you'll never be able to lift properly again or pack on muscle - is it worth the risk?

Yes lifting does promote the release of growth hormones, but at your age your body is already producing them at maximum rate anyway, the additional release only becomes important in your twenties onwards when your body has shut down the production of them.

  4. You are not supposed to lift heavy weights or do things such as gymnastics until you are completely done with puberty. It DOES stunt your growth. You basically create shorter, stronger muscles.  h**l, look how small the gymnasts are!

  5. Yes weight lifting stunts your growth.

  6. lifting weights is great just dont overdue it

    EDIT:

I dont think hes trying to lose weight idiot

  7. It's just a false dumb myth.

I'm 16 too and I've gotten a lot of criticism from my parents, the guys and trainers at the gym for being too young to lift.

However, I let all that aside and I lift the heaviest weight I can do with good form.

No it's not why  your short, that's just your genetics

Lifting weights does not stunt growth at all.
