I discovered last night that someone had gotten a hold of my debit card numbers ( I still have my card, it was not stolen) and then wiped out my bank account and left me 575 dollars overdrawn. I have canceled my card and have begun the process of getting my money back and filling all this paper work with the bank. What does the process mean, what will happen next how long will it take to get my money back. I have key bank, and they have told me I will get my money back and they will cover all my overdraft charges because they are obviously not my fault. Will they try to catch this theif who stole the money I worked so hard for? And how can I prevent this from happening again, did I make a foolish mistake, or did someone really have to try hard to get my information?

  1. Last week it was reveled a huge credit card scam involving around 40 million credit card numbers... Your card might be in that list. Best approach is to call your bank and complain. You might be able to see your money back, specially if you live in a state and the charges were made in another place... Good luck

  2. The debit card also requires password before it can be used to withdraw money. You should have one bank account with less than $500 and use its debit card to buy your necessities. This debit card should not be connected to another account or credit cards. Some shady stores (or their employees) illegally copy debit cards and the password with a hidden camera when you use them. It has been happening more often especially in small stores and gas stations.
