Question:

Someone stole my debit card?

I had a debit card and I could not find it so I canceled it right away. My bank mailed me a new debit card and I never receive it. Everyday I usually check my balance online and was frightened to see 2 unauthorized charges totaling over $500.00. My question is wouldn't the thief need my personal information to activate my new card? If not I am wondering if it is a insider from the bank that knew my information and stole the debit card?

  1. call your bank and tell them the situation, we here can't help you on this.

  2. You'd best get back in touch with the credit card people and clear that up ASAP.

  3. Call your bank and report that the debit card never reached you and that there are unauthorized charges.  Do this today!

  4. Dispute the charges and get another new card.  This time, have it sent to the bank so you have to pick it up in person.

Merchants don't always check IDs when running a debit card through because they get paid anyway.
