i beleive they are sprayed with a sugar solution before they are frozen at the factory....the sugar helps them brown and crisp faster in the fryer.

Not at the actual restaurant.  I don't know about where the fries are actually cut at, but at the restaurant its only kept frozen, then deep fried for almost 3 minutes then drained and finally  salted and served.  I had a 2 month stint at a mc D's when i lived in indiana for a while. Hope that helps..

I have never heard of such a ridiculous thing.  Of course I suppose it you are in a differant country that could be a custom but not here in the U.S.

i heard there was sugar in just about everything at fast food places. i dont' think fries are though, just tons of salt
