  1. japan is much more polluted then the US.

before, during and after WW2 japan had a manufacturing boom that left the country badly polluted.

new pollution  was controlled in the late 1970s but much of the old polluted sites still have to be cleaned up.

one of the few places they are ahead of the US is in cleaning up AIR pollution.

and that is because they use nuclear power plants instead of coal and oil power plants.

  2. If they cared so much about the environment, why do they continue to slaughter whales.  There is pollution everywhere, pal.  The human race is pollution, a street is pollution.....need I say more?

  3. To make a long story short, they used to have terrible pollution issues until a few industrial disease outbreaks caused them to straighten up quite a bit.  Now their industry is very well-regulated.  In terms of per-person impact on the environment, nobody has the US beat.  United States is the absolute worst because our consumption is other-worldly.  Nobody consumes like us.  In Japan, people typically live in small apartments with small cars and use public transit frequently.  In America, everything is huge; huge trucks, huge houses, huge everything.

Japan still has some issues, including their continued whaling practices.  And for someone to say they have "no pollution" is obviously an ignorant statement.

But their point about western pollution as a result of our greed has a lot of truth to it.

  4. every major city has factories homes and cars

japan has alot of factories and homes buteverybody rides the train in pretty much every major city therefore ommiting a LARGE portion that american cities might have

but there is no such thing as ZERO pollution...yet

  5. China has displaced Japan as Asia's largest manufacturing country. But it is grappling with severe environmental problems, as its air, water, land and human health have suffered from poor enforcement of environmental rules, reliance on dirty coal and low energy efficiency.

This year, according to outside estimates, China also became the largest producer of global warming gases, surpassing the United States.

Japan, in contrast, uses less energy per dollar of economic output than any other developed country. It has cut its carbon emissions sharply, partly by outsourcing manufacturing to China and other Asian countries.

"China is the major emitting country of greenhouse gases. So without Chinese engagement in programs of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, any international effort will inevitably be without effect

  6. Who ever told you that there is no pollution in Japan is either ignorant or a liar.  They do have very strict pollution controls, almost as strict as those in the US, but they do have pollution.
