  1. First of all if you keep thinking that there are bigger and better guys, there will be bigger and better guys.  You need to get you mind in the right place.  You need to see yourself as a big guy and the best long snapper in your conference.

You need to practice and practice and practice some more to be good.  Playing defense was my favorite thing to be.  At your size you should be faster than the lineman you're facing.  The trick is get the first hit in, not a tap, but a good hit so they will remember you.

Older and bigger does not mean better. You're nationally ranked for god sake, act like it. Attitude is a big part of football, you must see yourself as great (not goot) to be great.

  2. Get low and besides I am pretty sure no one can hit you, if you are the long snapper until you have lifted your head.  And since when did they start ranking long snappers? Espcially when they only played in varsity twice?

  3. Don't get too hung up on bench/weight/size stats. If you're intense and passionate, the more important element is the size of your brain. If you're long snapping. Observe people and their tendencies. At 5 10 you can stay low and drive people, and use your quickness to make their weight a disadvantage.  I was a linebacker, and the sub-6 guys gave me the most trouble because as a taller athlete it was tougher to push them off or blast them up and off my body. A lot of the top nose tackles are smaller/quicker because a bigger OL has to "chase" them to get a block on them, making it possible (depending on the defense called) to tie up a couple, even three blockers, with an aggressive, mobile nose tackle.  This gives you some things to think about.  My bet is you have a good head for  sizing things up or you wouldn't be what you are as a long snapper.  'Tear them up.

  4. To be honest, at my school, players took this growth stimulating things but I don't recommend it. I'd have to say hit the gym and Mcdonald's hard and drink alotta milk because it helps strong bones grow.

  5. Never played, but like anything in life, if there are others better than you, you have to outwork them each and every day!

  6. Leverage man, its all about leverage.

Get low under the other mans pads and he can't do anything about it. Be a smarter and more technical player. Your coaches will know how to coach you for you size. Listen to the things they teach you.

Work hard everyday and have fun!

  7. u gotta be a prick, get nasty, hit harder, do everything u do..HARDER take peoples heads off, also keep worknig at long snapping, not to many people can do it, and if u can block u should deff just concentrate on snapping

  8. of coarse u need leverage, but another thing is the swim, spin, sumo slap, rip, and the club move. I have used all of them in games and Im not that big either. the best one that Ive found is the club move. this move helped me to put the starting senior on his butt and made him look pathetic. rip move is also effective with the bigger linemen. use the one that works the best for you.

  9. what most others say. stay low, get all the leverage u can, and NEVER give up on the play, and listen to ur coaches

  10. I agree with the answer above me about leverage. You gotta stay low and use your hands well. Honestly, I was never that good of an offensive tackle/defensive end in high school, and that was mostly because while I was 6'1," my stance would be higher than 6'3" and 6'4" guys when I went up against them. I could just never stay low. When you're standing taller than the other guy, you're going to get pushed around, especially by an experience player.

  11. Use your height as an advantage and to put in as much work as you can but remember to have FUN thats one of the most important things. But you will defenitley have to outwork the comp. GOOD LUCK and have Fun!
