A bear trap might work. But like the previous writer I wouldnt want to become part of a crime (but would we be having this conversation if there was no crime commited?) And a bear trap might not work as Ive never heard of a thief going to work in the bare. Thus no thief in the bear trap. Or does he have to be bare?

Use a hidden camera and turn the tape over to the police.

Why don't you go to Radio Shack and get some little toys that make noise........and scare the H*** out of them.....you can get silent stuff.....but I think I would sooner scare them than deal face to face during the night.......but that's up to you.....hope this helps.......I had a van with 10,000 worth of tools stolen so know how you feel.........cops don't do anything. I have some good thoughts but can't share them...good luck

I would definitely contact the police about your dilemma but for them to act it takes proof.Yeah I know,why should I have this added expense.Well satisfaction often has a price.Research video cams,alarm systems and perhaps a neighborhood watch program.

even though it would be nice to set traps you would probally end up getting sued if you harmed some scum bag breaking into your house set up hidden cameras and tape them

First off....CALL THE POLICE and let them know that you have had break ins....Honestly, Im not going to tell you how to construct booby traps..as then I would become an accessory to a crime... But I do find it amusing that you placed this question under Maintenance/Repairs...
