Somersby likely to prevail in bet365.Com Celebration Chase Grade 2
Somersby is tipped to win the bet365.Com Celebration Chase Grade 2 at Sandown in England on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The winner of the class-1 race will be awarded a cash prize of £42,713.
The stamina of all participants will be tested, as they will have to cover an overall distance of 2 miles in the race, which is scheduled to start at 14:35 GMT. The going will be soft and a total of eight runners will be seen in action. Their names are as
follows: Wishfull Thinking, Somersby, French Opera, Sanctuaire, Cornas, West With The Wind, Dan Breen and Woolcombe Folly.
The bookies have shown full faith in the abilities of Somersby, who has got a very good record in chase races. His recent form has also been not bad, thus the punters are likely to place a lot of bets in his favour today.
The eight-year-old gelding has got plenty of experience, as he has taken part in 15 chase events until now. His performances in them have been quite good, as he managed to win four times and finished runner up on five occasions. In addition to that, he has
also secured the third place thrice, which shows that he mostly fights for the top positions.
However, the Henrietta Knight’s trainee was unable to deliver a decent result in his most recent run, where he finished seventh overall. He was up against some quality runners, but was still expected to give a tough time to the front runners. He failed to
do so, which has taken some momentum away from him.
Somersby will be partnered by Dominic Elsworth, who is a seasoned rider and has won 56 chase events until now. However, his strike rate is not much impressive and he requires a lot more consistency in order to attract more bets in his favour.
Wishfull Thinking, trained by Philip Hobbs, is also expected to attract a lot of bets in his favour, as he is a quality performer. He has entered 13 chase events, winning four of them and finishing runners up on the same number of times.
Other than the top two favourites, French Opera might also managed to make an impression in the race at Sandown.
