their innings, courtesy a brilliant performance from skipper, Nick Compton, who top scored the match with 66 runs. Worcestershire 2nd XI failed to chase down the massive target and were bowled out for 146 runs in the 19th over.
Compton won the toss and decided to bat first on a flat batting pitch. The conditions were ideal for the batsmen and the bowlers had a nightmare, as there was no support for them in the wicket.

The second wicket partnership between the home team’s captain and first-drop player, Craig Meschede, took the game away from the opposition. They collected 67 runs in a very short time, guiding the total to 123 in just 9.2 overs.
Meschede got out after scoring 32 runs from 13 balls, smashing two fours and three towering sixes. He was followed by his skipper, who collected 66 runs from 33 deliveries with the help of 12 boundaries. He played aggressive cricket and laid a solid platform
for the lower-order batsmen.

conceded by the bowling team, which helped the cause for Somerset 2nd XI.
Bowling was below par in the visitors’ innings, as plenty of runs were given away. However, young off-spinner, Alex Blofield, took two wickets for his team.
Worcestershire 2nd XI were given a very good start by their opening batsman, Jack Manuel, who scored a quick fire half-century in the match. He ended up being the top scorer for his team with 58 runs from 26 balls.
There was no other batsman in the visitors’ innings to cause problems for the opposition and wickets kept on falling at regular intervals, until the entire team was dismissed in 18.2 overs.
