The hosts managed 195 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 40 overs. None of their batsmen were able to make a big impression, as the highest score of the inning came from Craig Meschede, who collected 35 runs.

Toss was won by the visitors’ skipper Matt http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Walker-c95903, who opted to field first. He expected batting to be difficult in the first half of the game, but would have been disappointed in the end, as the bowlers conceded 195 runs.
Somerset 2nd XI’s openers Alex Barrow and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Burke-c1640 went off to a decent start, collecting 36 runs at the top of the order. The former was the first wicket to fall in the innings. He failed to carry onto the start, getting out for 18 runs off 28 deliveries.
The hosts’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lewis-Gregory-c72822 was the next man to be dismissed in the innings. He was also unable to make a big impression, getting out for 14 runs off 13 balls with the help of one six.
Just 10 runs later, Burke was also sent back to the pavilion after adding 20 runs to the total. He took quite a lot of time to settle down, facing 49 deliveries, but would have been disappointed by not being able to convert his start.
However, the innings was held together by Calum Haggett and Meschede. The pair did not take too many risks and put together 56 runs for the fourth wicket partnership.
Meschede got out after contributing 35 runs to the total. The youngster played really well, scoring his runs off just 32 balls with the help of five fours and one towering six.
Just six runs later, Haggett was also dismissed after adding 30 runs to the total. This saw a collapse for the home team, as wickets started to tumble. However, lower-order players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gemaal-Hussain-c1479 contributed some crucial runs to the total towards the end of the innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waller-c95917 got out after scoring 19 runs whereas Hussain remained unbeaten on 22 until the end, guiding his side’s total to 195.
Nick Browne did a fabulous job for the Essex 2nd XI side, picking up four wickets in the match.
