It appeared at one stage of the visitors’ innings that they would be bowled out well below 200, as the team had lost five wickets for just 96 runs. However, lower-order player, Sam Mount, played a superb innings of 53 runs, guiding his side’s total to 220
in the end.
There was a lot of depth in the Kent 2nd XI team’s batting line-up, but the team failed to make an impression in the game. The batsmen failed to cope with the pressure of chasing and the entire team was dismissed for 145 runs in 29.5 overs.
Chris Piesley was the highest scorer for the home team, collecting 48 runs. His effort went in vain in the end, as there were only four other players to reach double figures in the innings.
There was not much assistance for the bowlers in the pitch, but it was a touch on the slower side. The ball was not coming on the bat with even pace and bounce, which made it quite hard for the batsmen to score runs freely.

A 32-run stand for the third-wicket, between Fabian Cowdrey and Piesley, gave some momentum to the team.
Cowdrey failed to make most of the start he got to his innings and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 20 runs to the total from 28 balls with the help of three boundaries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-David-Birrell-c75131 played a steady innings of 19 runs off 41 balls, but was unable to make a significant impression. He got out after collecting 54 runs alongside Piesley for the fourth-wicket partnership.
Piesley looked the most comfortable batsman amongst the home team’s players. He scored 48 runs from 53 deliveries, clobbering five boundaries, but got out at the wrong time of the innings.
Just a couple of deliveries later, Matt http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Coles-c51379 was also dismissed after adding 30 runs to the total, leaving the team in deep trouble at 135/6.
The pressure was too much for the lower-order players, as all team was dismissed for 145 runs on the board.
Somerset 2nd XI’s bowler Craig Overton did most of the damage in the innings, picking up four wickets for his side.
