Somerset still unsure about Abdur Rehman coming to Taunton – Cricket News Update
The Somerset County’s director of cricket Brian Rose on Friday revealed that his county was still unsure whether Pakistan spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 will get a visa to join the county for the final six LV= County Championship matches of the ongoing 2012
season.
Speaking to media reporters today, Rose said that they were in touch with the Pakistan off-spinner as well as the British high commission in Pakistan, however he was unable to confirm any proceedings in this regard.
“The situation with Rehman is still the same – we have got the tracking number on his visa and we have asked the embassy in Islamabad if we can fast-track it,” said the Somerset coach.
Rehman, the 32-year-old left-arm orthodox bowler from Pakistan, was initially scheduled to join http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 for the final seven county championship matches of the season. But due to visa issues, he has already missed one of those.
Rose said that they have been quite patient in this regard and cannot wait too much longer. The county is next scheduled to play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 off-spinner
in place by then.
“The paperwork is in place but I don’t think I can wait too much longer, to be honest,” said Somerset’s director of cricket in an irked tone.
“I want him over for Liverpool. As with a lot of things this season, I have a Plan 15b in place, so I have potential options if he doesn’t come. But I’m not going to let it go – I’m going to pursue it right down the line – because he is the bloke we
want,” he added further.
Meanwhile, good news for the Taunton fans is that Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JA-Morkel-c1613 to play for Somerset on
Friends Life t20 Finals Day next month. Marcus Trescothick-led side will play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 in the second semi-final of the day, at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on August 25.

This will be  Somerset’s fourth successive appearance on the finals day, though they have failed to make it count on the last three occasions.
