Somerset’s innings was dominated by their skipper Marcus Trescothick’s century, who was the top scorer with 163 runs. He has been in fabulous form throughout the current county season and has been scoring runs in every format of the game.
The former England player struck 23 fours and one massive six in his impressive outing. He seldom played a rash shot in his knock and put the opposition’s bowlers on the back foot from the start of the innings.

Apart from the Somerset openers, the team’s first-drop Nick Compton also played an impressive innings. He was the second highest run scorer for the hosts in the innings, collecting 56 runs with the help of six boundaries.
The hosts’ middle-order failed to make a big impression, as most of the players were dismissed after they got starts.
