Somerset 140/8 (20/20 ov) – Somerset won the toss and chose to bat

On Friday, in yet another match of the Friends Life T20 tournament, fans witnessed Somerset put up a good show as the side while batting first on winning the toss, amassed a decent total of 140 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs against Gloucestershire,
in the Midlands/Wales/West Group, at County Ground, Taunton.

Opener, RE Levi failed to perform in this game as he was the first wicket to fall after bolstering a knock of seven runs.

With one wicket down for only seven on the scoreboard, Somerset were caught off guard and needed to regain focus in order to avoid a batting disaster.

NRD Compton and KJ O'Brien then forged a comeback as they smacked the bowlers without a hint of remorse and gave the bowlers something to think about.

However, with 30 runs on the board, the batting side lost their second wicket when number-three batsman, O'Brien, perished after playing a short innings of eight runs.

Gloucestershire bowlers were gaining momentum as they with 39 runs on the scoreboard; they grabbed another wicket as Compton fell after crafting a knock of 21 runs.

The batting side were caught under pressure and facing quite difficulty in sneaking run past the bowlers.

By 47 runs on the board, JC Hildreth, had become the fourth wicket to fall from his side, as he perished after knocking just a run.

Things were really spinning out of hand for Somerset and they needed someone to bat a solid innings before crumbling to a total that might have not been enough to defend.

Wicketkeeper/batsman JC Buttler and JA Morkel then took it upon themselves to steer their side out of calm seas, as they batted with craftsmanship to counter the belligerent bowlers.

However, after the two took the team score to 80 runs, the partnership met its demise on the wicket of Buttler, who crumbled after smacking an innings of 23 runs.

Meanwhile, Morkel hammered 33 and L Gregory staggered 21 runs to help the side post a reasonable total.
