http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 156 & 176/5 (57.0 ov) v Somerset 249 - Match drawn
On Friday, August 10, the four-day match between Somerset and Nottinghamshire ended in a draw, at County Ground, Taunton.
The day began with Somerset resuming their first innings from a score of 187 for the loss of six wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 aimed to improve their lead as they came out to bat for Somerset.
However, the duo could only take the score to 199 before Rehman lost his wicket to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 after scoring 17 runs.
JC Hildreth was then accompanied by GM Hussain as the two batsmen exhibited composure against the bowling attack.
Nottinghamshire, needed to wrap-up Somerset’s innings, in order to stop them from amassing a massive total.
The fielding side hit jackpot when with 225 on the board, they managed to nab the wicket of Somerset’s ace batsman, Hildreth, who fell after mounting an innings of 83 runs.
With the top batsman back in the pavilion, it was upon Somerset’s tail to bat for a few more hours.
However, the side could muster only 249 before getting bowl-out by Nottinghamshire.
The Notts had a decent start to their innings, as opener AD Hales and MH Wessels crafted a stand of 30 runs, before Somerset got lucky enough to grab the wicket of Wessels, who perished after scoring a knock of 22 runs off 25 deliveries.
Star batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Lumb-c1981, then forged a commendable partnership alongside his opener, taking the score to 85 runs.
He however, became the second wicket to fall from his side when he was caught behind off PD Trego after belting a knock of 17 runs.
With Lumb out of the way, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 saw this as an opportunity to tighten screws around the batsmen.
However, Hales and JWA Taylor exhibited their superiority by staggering a brilliant partnership, taking the threat out of the bowling brigade.
The batsmen toyed with the bowlers and kept the scoreboard ticking. After piling 118 runs on the board, Hales lost his wicket on a tally of 54.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 was then the next batsman to walk off the field, as he was dismissed after hammering a 46-run knock off 67 deliveries.
The Notts finished the day with 176 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 Voges and PJ Franks stayed unbeaten on eight and four runs.
