Somerset v Surrey - County Championship Division One - Day 3 – Live Score and Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 317 & 58/0 (20.0 ov) v Somerset 294 - Surrey lead by 81 runs with 10 wickets remaining
After a break of a day due to heaving rains, the four-day match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 and Surrey resumed on the penultimate day with Somerset continuing their first innings from a total of 42 for the loss of two wickets, at County Ground, Taunton.
CR http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jonathan-Clare-c1729 Hildreth exhibited their superior class as they pounded the opposition in a bid to amass a big total in response to Surrey’s first innings tally of 317.
The two batsmen denied the opposition early wickets, as they kept the scoreboard ticking, without giving the fielding side a breather.
It was imperative for Surrey to break this lethal partnership in order to have a serious chance of winning the match.
Nonetheless, the batsmen managed to post a staggering tally of 151 before Hildreth became the first wicket of the day, as he was trapped in front of stumps by M Kartik after hammering a resounding knock of 85.
This was the breakthrough that Surrey were looking for, and needed to capitalize on the situation by nabbing a few more wickets to put the batting side under pressure.
In his next over, Kartik struck again and this time he dismissed Jones, who fell after smacking a half-century.
With Somerset’s two top batsmen back in the pavilion, Surrey gained confidence and went for the kill, making things quite difficult for JC Buttler and AWR Barrow.
On a tally of 167, Buttler became the fifth wicket to fall, as he was run out after scoring only 14 runs.
While PD Trego exhibited some confidence, he lost his partner at the other end when AWR Barrow was also run out after scoring 12 runs.
With Kartik and SC Meaker bowling exceptionally well, Trego, kept calm and belted a well needed innings of 92 to help his side reach a total of 294 before the side was bowled-out.
Meaker and Kartik shared four wickets each as they annihilated Somerset in the first innings.
Surrey clobbered a score of 58 in 20 overs without any loss in their second innings before the day was called off.
