Most of the first day’s play was washed out due to rain and conditions did not improve on the next morning either. Yorkshire’s skipper Joe Sayers opted t field first after winning the toss. There had been plenty of rain at Headingley in the past few days, which suggested that the bowlers will get a lot of assistance. Clouds had also covered the field, which allowed the

Both batsmen showed solid technique and did not play any lose strokes. They put on 72 runs, guiding the team into a very good position.

All of a sudden, the Somerset team was in a struggling position. They needed a solid partnership to get out of trouble at that stage of the innings.
