Something I heard on npr about an alcoholic mother?

Question

There was a guy talking about his alcoholic mother, who could hardly take care of herself at all... He said she had gotten into Cornell at 16, or that she had married someone else really smart. I can't remember many more details, but I know it was one of those long pieces on npr, and I think I heard it about a year to a year-and-a-half ago. I really want to hear it again, any more info would be great. Thanks!
