I remember having read a long time ago that there was a fictitious director's name that established Hollywood directors would put on a movie if they didn't like the final cut but the studio wanted it released. But I can't remember where I read it, and I can't remember this fictitious director's name. Can anyone tell me what the name was, if this is true? Any links would be appreciated, too :)

Thanks!

Yes when a director doesn't want their name in the credits (if they are ashamed of the movie or for what ever reason) they use the name Allen Smithee. Its a anagram of "The alias men."
