Can nitrate salt or chloride salt react with acid?

then can hydroxide salt, oxide salt react with acid?

  1. both nitrate and chloride anions  are the conjugate bases of strong acids and as such have little affinity for a proton ..so if one were to "react " NaCl and nitric acid ..the hydrogen ion would not bind to chloride but would remain ionized typical of a strong acid.

    Hydroxide and oxide , however, will react with protons to form water and salts of the acid

          NaOH  + HNO3-------------  NaNO3 + H2O

          CaO  +   2 HCl---------         CaCl2  + H2O
