Question:

Something bout CAPACITOR MOTOR?

my washing machine broke down, the motor capacitor exploded. and i'm out to replace the capacitor. But i want to check if the motor is still okay. Now, i want to test if the motor is still in good condition. Is it possible to test the motor even though i connect the lines to AC volts directly, without having to connect it to the capacitor?

By the way, the motor has 3 wires.

thanks.

  1. You should let someone who knows what they're doing handle this for you.  The capacitor's in the start circuitry of the motor.  It's purpose is to give the motor the necessary boost to start.  The capacitor could have exploded from it's own fault.  It could also explode due to a fault in the motor.  You need to make sure the motor's OK before doing much work to replace a component that might just explode again if the fault's in the motor.
