Question:

Something in eye/eye keeps on watering?

I feel like I have something underneath my left eyelid. I've had this sensation before and it is usually temporary, but this time it's different because my eye waters whenever I close my eyes to relieve the irritation. I originally thought all of this was because of my contacts, but I still felt like something was there after I took my contacts out. What should I do?

  1. If you wear contact lenses and removal of the lens does not stop eye irritation it is possible you have a generalized infection of the eye or even a corneal ulcer.  Corneal ulcer can be sight threatening so I would go in and let your doctor take a look at this rather than sit back and hope it goes away on its own.

EDIT:  Yes.  That is a good thing.  If the eye is now white and pain free, the chances of you having an ulcer are very low.  So in this case it would probably be alright to give the eye a day of rest without the lens and then start back.

  2. I would probably rinse my eye out for a while until the pain goes away, Ive had this same problem and it went away after a few minutes after I took out my contacts. If the feeling is there for more than a day, I would go get help

    Good Luck!

  3. You probably have a sty! This is like a tiny little gland that comes up in your eye. It irritates but will eventually go. You can get over the counter creams or eye drops to put in your eye from your pharmacist. But it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Try to leave your contacts out for a while and relax and let your eyes rest.
