Something is about to happen; Sestina; Care to comment?

Zephaniah 1:12

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

Sestina

A sestina (or sestine or sextain) is a highly structured poem consisting of six six-line stanzas followed by a tercet (called its envoy or tornada), for a total of thirty-nine lines. The same set of six words ends the lines of each of the six-line stanzas, but in a different order each time;

We wait in anticipation for you

Aware that this is a time of judgment

We’re left clinging to our understanding

In a world that refuses to repent

I know something about to happen

To a world that too easily forgets

Then, they will see that, you too don’t forget

That all blessings can only come from you

And there is a reason, why things happen

But now, all were left with, is judgment

Because, we are a people that wont repent

Relying on our own understanding

We should ask “what is that understanding?”

Seeing that the real lesson we forget

Is, when we have done wrong, we should repent

And then we can turn our hearts back to you

Or be left facing impending Judgment

So what did we do to make this happen?

The sincere prayer, that we didn’t make happen

And believing on others understanding

That say there will never be a judgment

With all these disasters, we soon forget

And now they want us all, to forget you

But I for one, for my sins, I repent

Are there any others that will repent?

Or are you waiting to see what happens”

And then, cry out for God to save you?

Where are all those, that have understanding

And those that swore they would not forget

That It is, God alone, who brings Judgment?

And for those that say there is no Judgment

I wonder how quickly you will repent

With eyes opened to show what you forget

Your mouth will say, “how did this happen?”

Stop leaning on your own understanding

Get on your knees and ask God, to save you

It’s up to you, if you want to repent

But one thing is sure, judgment will happen

Understanding means you should not forget
