Question:

Something is destroying my zinnias one by one.

They shrivel up as if the life is being sucked out of them from the roots. Then the next one gets attacked. I don't see any bugs and have sprayed with a horticulturalist recommended bug killer. They think it is the "spittle bug". Anyone have any ideas. I am down to about 10 flowers left in this garden spot.

  1. Check under the ground and see if there are gophers or grubs or something eating the roots. Also, go outside at night with a flashlight and see if there are any night-dwelling creepy-crawlies eating them.
