For the past 2 days i have been doing volleyball tryouts for my school team. I really love the sport, and i am good at it, but i keep getting bad pain in my hand and the right side of my body (i serve w/ my right hand) is it cause i am gaining muscle or am i doing something wrong? I just want to do good tomorrow which is the last day of tryouts. Also....any tips?

  1. My arm hurts alot too, but it isn't because you pulled a muscle or anything, you are just using your muscle alot, so you are starting to gain more muscle.

  2. Make sure your spend enough time for warm-up and cool-down. Put your jacket on after tryout, even though you are still sweating. Make sure you sit right up in the car on your way home.

Try a warm-bath-tub (or Jacuzzi if your age is there) tonight and see whether it would help. Even if it doesn't help, you should be able to survive tomorrow's tryout... just be more careful in the future and try your best to follow what I put in the first paragraph :)

    Have fun playing volleyball.

  3. you probably pulled a muscle somewhere there's really nothing you can do about the pain it just takes time to heal.

  4. im guessing that you pulled a mussle and it will hurt for a while

    but keep on pushing!!

  5. I'm not an exercise physiologist, but I don't believe that muscles grow from serving a volleyball.  Muscle growth occurs via resistance training; i.e., lifting weights or lifting your own body weight with exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, and squats.  Also, muscle growth is not likely to be meaningful in only two days.

I think your pain is coming from using body parts in an athletic manner for an extended period of time that you haven't used vigorously before; specifically, your right arm and shoulder.  If you stay active and in shape throughout the year, then this shouldn't happen, unless you're really exerting yourself.

  6. u need to stretch ur arm out a lot before u play and when u serve try not to hit the ball to high up because u can pull ur side muscle i used to serve like that to

  7. thats great that you are playing... the pain you are getting is most likely from your serve, try not swinging your arm all the way across your body. the motion you are doing with hitting or serving is doing this. ... some tips i have for you is that don't be too nervous about making the team, do your best and be confident on your abilities.

  8. it could possibly be from serving, soon the pain will go away. just keep practicing. and keep working hard

  9. i agree with every one else, i think u pulled a muscle or u need to pull back on ur serve
