I went to the orthodontist awhile ago, they put in bands for my teeth, and gave me a bite plate. Recently, I've been feeling a horrible pain on the roof of my mouth, weird thing is that it's only on my left side, not both sides of the roof. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, but it hurts a lot. I think it's the bands that are hurting the roof of my mouth, but I don't think they're supposed to. When I run my finger to feel the band, it's very sharp, (on both sides of my mouth) but only the left side digs into the roof of my mouth. Please help me, is this normal? And what can I do to alleviate the pain?

  1. Hello...Dental appliances are not ordinarily designed in a manner that allows them to actually dig into the gum or mouth tissue.....You need to immediately call the DDS office and get back in for an adjustment. Don't let it go so long that an adjustment doesn't give you relief for several day's. Good luck and I wish you well.
