Question:

Something is wrong with my 2003 searay 240dancer switch panel. only some buttons work. it's not the switch

i have replaced the 9 button switch panel(6wires). it did not fix the problem. some of the switches work. some will actually turn other buttons on. some do not work at all. i have checked all the grounds and still have no clue. does anyone have any clue

  1. Before you hire a pro, find out what's wrong with it yourself.  Do a continuity test with a voltmeter on each individual wire from the panel to the fuse to the connection.  Check each one at a time.  Check for a good ground.  Make sure you are getting a full 12 Volts at each connection.  Test each fuse.  Make sure the ignition switch has 12 v  going to it.  Make sure the batteries are at full 12.5 v or higher.  Check each wire for cuts or breaks.  Make sure all connections are clean, free of grease or oil.  Good Luck.


  2. stewpid is correct. hire a pro before you have a fire. electricity is best left to a person with experience. never try to go cheap with a boat.

  3. yep.  it's a mess under there.  do all 9 buttons operate something?  those 6 pole switches are tough to wire, you might consider hiring a pro.
