Question:

Something is wrong with my HDTV?

I have a problem with my HDTV. Yesterday, my tv has had picture problems. The edges are blurry, and is like the picture is zoomed in, because there are small black gaps between the edge of the tv and the actual picture. It's hard to explain. But it's blurry and annoying. It has done this one other time and it just went away. The tv is a RCA Projection HDTV. It is about 2 years old, so it shouldn't be malfunctioning. Does anyone know what I can do? Any help? Thanks.

To clarify, I drew a picture in paint. (Not my tv, just googled a random one)

KEY:

Solid Black- on edges is blacked out on tv

Red-Blurry spots

Spray Paint Black-Clear part in center

On the bottom, it does like a upside down U, with like the ESPN Bottomline. The center is fine with the ESPN Bottomline, but then it fades down towards the corners. Like the sides, but on the bottom and is not blacked out.

  1. Ah! That HELPS.....

Is this Tv a PLASMA TV?  If so the Power supply voltages need readjustment, Your problem is called Over and Under-diffusion....

A picture is worth a thousand words...and believe me your words were telling me you had an RCA CRT Projector with either a Bad Convergence or a Bad Vertical problem....the ZOOMED in part contributed to that analysis....

Of course, you may have adjusted the Left/Right arrow keys to Zoom it in .....That's all you need to adjust the zoom levels on RCA's.....

  2. Being a projection TV and not plasma, as you mentioned in your post, I would guess it's a convergence problem that needs to be adjusted.  It is somthing you normally would need to have a tech come out and look at.  No manufacturer warrenty would be left on the TV so it would cost you unless you bought an extended warrenty.
